Why We Love Serving the Chesapeake VA Area

For over 35 years, Magic Sweep has been providing chimney and fireplace services to the Coastal Virginia area, including the city of Chesapeake. Residents of this region know they can trust our fireplace and chimney maintenance, installation, and repair services. We can do many different jobs: clean and inspect chimneys to prevent fire hazards, renovate fireplaces to update the look of your hearth, clean air ducts to improve indoor air quality, and clean dryer vents to keep a devastating house fire from occurring. We are proud to offer these services in this beautiful part of Virginia and love working and living in this area. We would like to share with you more about one of our favorite things about Chesapeake, Virginia: outdoor recreation.

Northwest River Park & Campground

Stretching out for 763 acres along the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail, the Northwest River, the Atlantic, and the Intracoastal Waterway, this park provides camping sites, picnic shelters, horseshoe pits, volleyball nets, an equestrian area, hiking and walking trails, a putt-putt golf course, and the first disc golf course in Chesapeake. Open year round from 9:00 AM until sunset, Northwest River Park & Campground is a four-time winner of the “Best of Chesapeake.”

Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge

Great Dismal Swamp Canal - Chesapeake VAThe largest remaining intact part of a vast habitat that once covered more than a million acres of southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, this wildlife refuge surrounds the 3,100 acre Lake Drummond. Hunting is available for six weekends in October and November, and birding is popular in April and May. Each May, the three-day Migratory Bird Day is celebrated here with workshops and guided tours. From its many walking and biking trails, you can spot over 220 species of birds along with white-tail deer, bobcats, river otters, and black bears. One of the things Magic Sweep loves the most about this wildlife refuge is observing 65 different species of butterflies here in the summer. We also enjoy boating on kayaks and canoes on the lake.

Chesapeake Arboretum

Located on the grounds of an 18th century farmhouse, this arboretum dedicates itself to promoting awareness of the environment and horticulture. This 48-acre natural classroom includes many different gardens, including a fragrance and antique rose garden. Open from sunrise to sunset every day of the year, the Chesapeake Arboretum is also home to several walking trails.
